Born in 1952 in Son Ferriol, Mallorca

1976 graduated with a diploma from the “Facultat de Belles Arts de Barcelona” – Art School
Numerous solo exhibitions in Mallorca and mainland Spain, also in England and Germany. Won several art awards, mainly with drawings, and selected for relevant art award exhibitions. Participation in many group exhibitions and art fairs, among others in Bologna.
For about 30 years Joan Vich has been teaching amateur painters and professional colleagues in his own academy in downtown Palma, and preparing prospective art students for the entrance exams to the art academies in Valencia and Barcelona. Joan Vich is a “classic” among contemporary painters with a very sophisticated painting technique, mainly in oil. He describes himself as already “inoculated” against abstract painting at the age of 15, but is becoming increasingly free within representational painting.
He is known among Mallorcans for his accurate portraits; many of Mallorca’s haute volée have themselves painted by him. He was also chosen to paint the official portrait of the outgoing bishop of Mallorca. Kursiosum: He financed his studies in Barcelona as a goalkeeper in the youth team of Barcelona (Barça, today one of the world’s best teams). At the time, he was even in talks for a professional career as a kicker, but then decided to paint.
