sylvia schramm

Under the theme “ART ‘N` SHOW” the Hamburg artist SYLVIA SCHRAMM has shown her works for the first time in the Fabrik der Künste 2015 in Hamburg. Now she exhibits – after three successful years – here “ART ‘N` SHOW II”.
Sylvia Schramm started to paint and to be interested in art at an early age. She worked as a model, studied fashion design and traveled the world as a designer and buyer for many years. Even after the birth of her 2 children, she continued her creative work, founded her own children’s furniture company, exhibited her paintings and illustrations and learned various programs, with the help of which she finally realized the dream of her own collection.
But fashion fades – art remains and as an artist she is fascinated by the bridge between the two. Inspired by the sense of form, the sense of beauty and the culture of fashion, Sylvia Schramm now creates something lasting from the ephemeral with her large-scale works on metal and titles it “ART ‘N’ SHOW II”. The fashion show is what she herself experienced front – and back stage. The most exciting moment for the designer and spectator fascinates the artist and inspires her to lift the context of the scenes to other levels.
This now leads the artist to a series of four “cutout” works in aluminum, which make her motifs three-dimensional.
Schramm’s works radiate a sense of color and form, but she also takes a critical look at fashion and its “excesses”, loosely based on Honoré Balzac: “A person who sees only fashion in fashion is a fool”. Each individual work conceals an association or story that makes one think. With her portrayal of women, she interprets a multifaceted image of women with strength and character, from feminine elegance to “girl power”.
Furthermore, she develops exciting works in the same technique for “Legendary Cycles Hamburg”, which deals with the connection between art and legends – “ART ‘N’ LEGEND”. These works can be seen as a permanent exhibition in the INDIAN Showroom Hamburg.

Hamburg inspires the “waschechte” Hamburgerin to another impressive series with the theme “ART AND THE CITY”. The Hanseatic city as the center of world events – in the spirit of her husband’s grandfather, the historian Percy Ernst Schramm (1894-1970), who, among other things, wrote the book “Hamburg, Germany and the World”. The artist’s artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with the knowledge gained from painting. In this process, the motif is applied to a metal plate as a “canvas” using special processes. The result is an exciting play between matt and gloss, which characterizes her impressive unique pieces, framed in iron profiles. Her knowledge for the material and figurative of fashion can be felt in all her works.
